I got it bought, and went to get it today. Really no idea what I was buying. Turns out the motor is shot, but the rest is in very good condition. Too good to part out. Anyone know where one could get a 17 h.p. Kohler Series 2 engine?

Do you mean blown up or need a rebuild? Good engines but I suspect hard to find in good shape. I cant say enough about the reliability of mine, it has given me very little trouble over its 30 plus year life.

Strangely, a friend found me one today in an old Simplicity dealer's warehouse. Eight mile drive from the shop, and we brought it home. Needs rebuilt. Missing the carb, but mine has one. Now, will just need to find an air filter canister. Anyone???
