Is the variable speed useful for lawn/garden tractor pulls, or does it just slip? Thanks for any help.

I don't know, but because no one has answered, I'll say this. I have a 720 that has a 3 speed gear box and hydro. It has a loader on it and I can stall it when scooping out of a pile of soil that has been setting for a few years.

Mine slips just in regular use. Belt is correct width. Not worn enough to replace. Adjusted as best I can, so I will live with it.

Perhaps someone else will respond with more complete info for you.

If the vari-speed is tight like new it doesn't do to bad. When sheves and pins are worn and loose it will slip! We put double spring on one to help!
