Paint; AC Orange where to buy or match recipe?

Any one got recommendations on where a guy could get a couple quarts of AC orange to spray ? Thought about makena runinto the Tractor Supply tomorrow and seein if I could get lucky... probably will be somethin I can’t buy in town: guessin I’ll havta order it off the Internet

Hmm. Yea I’ll just go into Sherwin tomorrow and ask for Persian Orange in industrial. I wana get a test run on somethin this weekend while I’m off. I’ve done alil sandin. I’m not goin for the complete roll off the assembly line stock look at this time. Im wantin to just get her cleaned up with a fresh coat as she goes about her daily duties on the farm

I struck out at Sherwin that ppg60080 wasn’t in the system. Got sw6886 and sw6885 to maul over if I can’t find anything else

True Value (if you have one), but Home Depot sells the AC Orange online. Order and ship to your house.

What I did (if this helps) is I went to Rust-Oleum's website and looked up the color and then locator. :) Hope this helps.

PPG is a brand of paint, Sherwin Williams doesn't sell PPG.

I've given up on Sherwin Williams. I took the straw rack hanger plate from one of my All-Crops (the piece has been out of the sun its whole life), and after cleaning it and putting a little rubbing compound on it, looked perfect to me. They scanned it but said they couldn't match the color, as it was "too yellow" and would fade out if they mixed a color to match. I insisted I wanted that shade, so they tried, but kept coming up with PO#2 and another color that was too brown, like the Texas Longhorn's burnt orange.

If I need paint in the future, I'm just going to go with PPG.

The PPG Omni line acrylic enamel MAE with hardener is mentioned quite often. They do have the formula for PO#1. The timing between the epoxy primer and the topcoat is critical.

If the tractor is going to be stored inside, then the Majic paint could work. It is Po#1 shade. I sprayed some test panels and it was easy, levels out. But it took a long time to dry and cure. I think two days later it could trap a gnat. I did not use the hardener. I would say you must use the hardener. There are Youtube videos about using this on tractors. They also have a clearcoat. Maybe that would extend the sun exposure lifetime. Call their tech support, they will pickup the phone. Find out what the clearcoat does for durability.

But hey, why not use the AGCO paint, but I don't know anything about it.

Sherwin Williams AIC acrylic urethane is too brittle. Store told me everyone is back to their acrylic enamel now. But they can't mix to PO#1 for either. Bahh.

I still thing the paint industry are dirty rotten scoundrels.

Thanks for that information. Humm these paint guys say the shine will still blind you in the sun after 10 years! Humm???

The two WD's I have were born before me. The WD45 2 years after. I remember I was old enough Dad felt it was safe for me to drive on the road with the WD and a hay wagon.

So the tractor was maybe 10 years old. It was crusty and rusty by that time. I think most were somewhat faded and not to shiny. But I did not see a lot of new ones.

I didn't help much. I actually think my faded WD wide front probably is about what they looked like in a couple years?

Any way I did get my pumpkin orange paint re-mixed. Haven't shot any yet.

FYI the top coat is acrylic enamel as mentioned above. I shot that years ago with no hardener and it held up well.
