After more than 2 seasons of fiddlling with the various components, I think my Woods L306 setup under my CA is finally humming. Many thanks to many of you over the time who responded to my mayday posts with ideas and encouragement.
Yall told me that it would be a nice mowing setup when I finally got belt size and tension, pulley orientation, etc etc etc sorted out. Yall were right. Thanks !

Glad you got it working to your satisfaction. That combination is a very good mowing outfit.

You know back in our day (1937 -1962) we were proud to sell he Woods complete line for Allis Chalmers. We sold them behind and in the middle of everything. Worked just GREAT then. Looks like they are still an outstanding unit. Glad to hear the good news. Have Fun - especially with the live PTO CA set up. Don't be afraid to use it. In fact we made a point to get the mower up to full speed before moving and when stopping by using the live pto. Really worked much better - no marks. Good Luck! Bill Long |

Saturday afternoon, I got the B with it's L59 (rear discharge) out and decided to do the first mowing of the front yard. She was running smooth; all was right. My wife came out of the house and waited by the garage as I finished a lap. I shut off the mower and idled down as I pulled up to see what she wanted. She asked:
"Are you actually mowing, or just driving in circles?" Truth is, the grass isn't long enough to touch the blades yet, so though the blades were spinning...there was no real mowing going on. This didn't diminish my mood one bit. With this being the case, I pulled her up onto the bench seat next to me (she gets to work the brakes) and we went for a joy ride up and down our lane and around the neighboring fields. I left the front yard half-done....not that anyone can tell.
