That we can track a mars rover crawling around on the red planet, but when My jeep Cherokee gets stolen there's no way to tell where it iz? Suks, cause I only had liability insurance on it too. it's been 2 days and the cops can't find it.

Les, just curios as to where and when that thing was when it got heisted. We lost one one evening in a Mall parking lot, it was a Pontiac Grand Am though. It sure sucks, a farmer called the police one Sunday morning and complained bout the car doing a bunch of damage in a corn field and it was still setting out there all beat to crap. Then the police had to impound it for "evidence". That saga went on and on.

Aw man,,,Les,,,I really feel for Ya,,,but have you looked over behind the barn,,,or,,,,or maybe it still over at the repair shop???? Chit Good Buddy,,I didn't mean that,,, Les,!! I figure you are pretty pissed off bout the robbery,,,,lots of people get traumatized after that happens to them,,,,,My Sister,, is one of the most kind hearted people in this world, had two girls under 12 years when their house got broke into in Roswell while they were visitin my mother here in Artesia. They were so stressed out the girls and her couldn't sleep in the house after the break-in,,,til finally 1 month later,,they moved out and bought another house on the OTHER side of town,,just down the street from a State Policemen. They took one heck of a beatin on selling their old house,, but at least they were more comfortable in their new surroundings. I've never had anything stolen out here,,or at least I don't know bout it ,,,yet,,,,but ole Hungry keeps me pretty well informed,,, I DO NOT like what I keep hearin bout facebook, google and others "looking into" all facets of our lives because you never really KNOW what they will use that info for,,or who they will sell it to. but,,I'll bet ole Shameless's Big Boy Trk against your WD,,,,that if they wanted to,,,they could find your Jeep in a heartbeat. SAY,,,,I just figured it out,,,maybe,,,,,put new batteries in your remote and drive around and keep clickin it at every house in a pretty good radius from you,,,,maybe,,maybe,,,, Good Luck,,,and,,Les,,,,I didn't mean all them silly comments,,,,,

Gee Les ,'they' can track any vehicle IF it's gots a GPS module in it. I'm surprised the insurance company didn't put one in, under the 'it'll save you 15% !' scam. Heck equipment rental companies have GPS in EVERY miniex, tractor, etc. New cars have On-Star...same thing, they track where it is, speed, brkaes, etc.Had a 73 CJ-5,got stolen 3 times. so I feel your pain. Most of the older still in decent shape machines are headed to S America or Asia in Shipping Containers. Buddy of mine saw his 1982 Harley when in Rio Brazil on vacation just six months after stolen, STILL HAD HIS LICENSE PLATE on it as saw it drive by, knew the machine by the sound of special exhaust he had built for it before got sight of it. KNOWS Is no way he will ever get it back. Seems are no titling requirements down there.

Know of a guys 57 chevy taht was being sent to Australia. The guy down under paid BIG money for it and it got stopped in Claiphornyia being put on a ship. I want to say the guy paid like $28,000. This was back a FEW years,,,,,,anyway, HE lost all his money as the guy that still had the original title laid claim to it and he got it back FREE and clear, didn't cost him a dime and it was LIKE NEW.
Les, I hope you get some GOOD news on it. The cops never did find my stuff either...... |

Hope they find it soon Les and it's not damaged.
People laugh at me as I still use a truck club on the steering wheel. They say that will not keep someone from getting it but I say it will keep half of them away and the other half will find it won't start due to a hidden kill switch on the fuel injection. She will crank but not start. So far so good after 24 years living in a big turd city. 🤔 |

That "hittin the clicker" deal actually works! I found my F250 doing that. Drove over to Meth-town and started looking. Found it, hit the panic button bout 1/2 a block away and all these Meth heads came running out of the house studying that truck something fierce trying to figure out why it was alarmin! They got suspicious, ran back in the house and for some reason wouldn't answer the door when the Police knocked!
It was loaded with other stolen goods but they weren't planning on losing it so quickly so had their cell phones (bout $1500 in phones), jackets and other junk in it. But man did it stink!

Well I found it. I searched for 7 days on 2 nights rest. The dang thieves had them a real nice sense of humor. They find my business cards inside and started sending me text messages. Hey yer Jeep iz over here, Hey good buddy, yer jeep iz over thar. And each time, I'd drive in an it wouldn't be thar. They was probably watchin from around the corner. Twice I missed them stayin at a motel by only couple hours.
But I started searching homeless shelters in the middle of the night until one morning BINGO! I seen it. They must of drove it on some rock roads cause the back end was covered in dirt thick enough you couldn't even read the plate number. How was the cops ever going to find it? I got my jeep back but the thieves were never arrested. Only damage was a burned out headlight and a blown out rear brake line.

I hope you cancelled the stolen report on it with the cops, otherwise they'll see you in it and have you face down on the pavement some day/night.

1979 I bought a Limited Int'l Scout, 345v8 Blue with Gold Stripes, black out grill among other oddities, was stolen one night while at work in W STL County, never found. Buddy of mine was up near his homeplace outside Pittsfield IL saw one similar on a used car lot. Stopped in saw all the changes I had made including the 4bbl carb, told the lot owner if did not sell to him cheap would turn it in as a stolen MV, got it for a song. Retitle was for a 1978 and body tag was a hosed up mess rivet wise, he got the correct rivets from IHC as we were with Gelco Leasing and kept it until the body rotted off. Made a Rock Crawler of it after that.

Dang Les, I would hate to have you on my trail. Good going. Hmmm, better check out all the cracks and crevices in there so there is not any good chit in there letting out aromas that a critter might alert on. Shameless gave some good advice. Once you get rousted by a rogue cop it is something that will be stuck in your gizzard forever.

You'd think the keys would confuse em as to what they are for.
Cause they is so use to breaking the ignition lock etc to steal em.

A true Christmas story!! You gave yourself a present!
NOW, get you some security cameras and an alarm system. Once they see it's gone, they just might come back lookin for it again. THEY know where they STOLE it in the first place. Batten down the hatches and be on the look out for em again. Give our good buddy a call and maybe he's got some ideas how to keep things safer. He might even lend ya one of his BIG dogs for a while..... |
