my 15 has always made a loud growling almost vibration noise when in road gear. I originally thought it was the usual ring pinion noise because it goes away while coasting. Now I think it may be in the right side axle housing. Upon disassembly, the bearings seem tight and look good, but the brake drum is very loose on the axle shaft. Enough for me to think it may be the source of the problem. Is the drum supposed to fit tight on there? any other ideas? I suppose I could put it together and adjust the brake rod both ways.. BTW... it is a LOT easier to get this old girl apart than the WD 45!!

Yes it should fit tight. Lots of hammering to make it go in. |
