Does anyone have a longevity report on the new AC mowers? I heard rumor once they were working on a third model, maybe bigger. Any truth to that? Thanks!

I have 28 hours on mine so far, plenty of power, 24hp , larger deck option should be available, machine works great, added volt meter, hour and oil pressure guages to dress it up a bit, not enough dealers selling them , had to get mine out of the US.

I have the AC-130 w/42" deck. 11 hours on it. Overall a decent machine.

Mine just turned 20 hours yesterday. I am overall happy with it. The decks could be better which I knew that going into the purchase. I just bought it cause it said ALLIS-CHALMERS on it, plain and simple.

I've seen a four wheel steer version last year at a dealer. It's a whole different animal than the other two.

We stock the 3 models the 130 42" and46" and the 4 wheel steer. The 2 conventional models we have sold a lot of and some of the ones sold last yr. are getting hrs. on them now, and not one warranty on any of them ,they are solid tractors for the $1799. and $1999. price. Cal in Ct.

Todd. Briggs & Stratton (Who now owns Simplicity) builds them. My dealer told me some of them are now being built at the Ferris plant somewhere here in NYS. Not sure what plant built the early ones like I have. Would of been nice to have one that was built here in NYS.

They allready have three models, they are all the same size but diffrent engine and deck size i think but one has all wheel stearing, and the other two just have diffrent hp engines, go to www.allischalmerslawn.com and click on products, it even has a rotational photograph that you can turn and zoom in on, it really neat!!

I have the model with the larger deck. I like the mower, but had a bad experience with the engine. It was repaired under warrantee, finally, after taking it back three times. The biggest issue was the B&S service center my dealer had to take it to for the warrantee work. No problems so far this year.

I thought I read something some time ago that stated it may be sold through Tractor Supply Company. Reason given was they thought TSC customers recognize and remember the AC brand.
Anyone else hear of this?

Ralph, I heard that also and asked my dealer about it. He said it's not gona happen. Briggs & Stratton wants their dealers to sell and service.

Does anybody know of a dealer in GA that has them in stock? If you look on their site they show dealers, but if you go to the ones with web sites they seem to be Snapper or some other dealers with no mention of A/C in their products. I would consider buying one just because it has the A/C name.

Howdy,
I have the AC all wheel steer. Bad news right from the start. First the lug nuts on one side were wrong and they sent ones that would never come close to fit. Then the battery was no good before I even cut my first cutting. Dealer had to send for it. After 1/2 dozen cuttings the spring broke for the belt tension. They ordered that too and the wrong one again! I am stilll happy with the machine, its got things my old AC's don't have but lucky I have my old Allis lawn mowers. AC 620,712,611 and a AC 63 finshing mower behind my 5015.

Was down in MN this past week, Country Cat a dealer in Sauk Center had five in a row lined up out front, nice to see. They claimed to have sold over 30 already. I sure wish we had dealers like this in MB Canada, all of the Simplicity dealers here are just a bunch of dead beats who dont even know these exist.

I think it's kinda wrong that they put that name on something that can't amount to much at that price.
I know the old ones were built by Simplicity and didn't really have much to do with Allis Chalmers... but yet in a way they did.
I still use mine every week to mow my yard.... I bet nobody'll be using the "New" Allis's thirty five years from now.... Oddly enough, I can also see why you can't build something like that, for the same reason... people will never buy another one.

Rogers, have you tried calling the Simplicity and Snapper dealers in your area? It is up to the dealer if they want to sell them or not. I would also try to find out who the district sales manager is in your area and contact him.

realolman, Allis Chalmers owned Simplicity for a time. B&S now owns Simplicity. These are B&S, simplicity, Allis Chalmers mowers.

I know, but it seems to me that these things are at best 47th cousins twice removed from a wd 45 or a d17... or even a 716H for that matter.
I see in the back of magazines sometimes they'll will be trying to sell stuff that carries the name of some old company that may have been a good old company... but they're just using the name as a sales gimmick.... seems to me this allis chalmers mower is the same sort of thing.
Bolens made probably millions of tractors and mowers... I believe pretty good stuff. They went outta business and nobody took over the parts or nothin' ( something I couldn't believe ) Now I see in Lowes, a stamped out little turd with Bolens name on it.... I think Mr. Bolens is probably turning over in his grave...
I think Allis and Chalmers probably are too ;-)

The question of who turns over in their grave will be answered by how well the newer A/C does. It looks like the majority of the responses are positive. Responses like Kurzy are reputation killers. It comes down to the test of time , and dealer support, to see iff'n they are a good deal.

They are as close as you are going to get to a an A/C of the past. They are built by the a current day division of same company that built A/C lawn mowers, and they are licensed to use the Allis Chalmers name which is still owned by the same Allis Chalmers corporation. It just happens to be that the current Allis Chalmers Energy is a ghost image of its former self, but is is still there. There is definitely no turning over in grave since Allis Chalmers Energy had to license the use of the Allis-Chalmers name and logo.
In the end strong support for the new Allis Chalmers lawn mowers would in part show a continuing strong brand recognition which could although very unlikely lead someone like AGCO to pursue attaining the rights to the Allis Chalmers name in larger tractors. Who knows, but it is definitely a bit of a bright spot to see the A/C name and logo back in some shape form and fashion.

Well if someone came out with an Allis Chalmers can opener tomorrow, would it really be an Allis Chalmers?
Or would it be someone just trying to sell can openers?
I think these mowers are just someone trying to sell mowers, and they have nothing to do with Allis Chalmers... except trying to exploit a name from the past... that the present day owners were willing to pimp for a buck.

I mow about 5 acres once a week during mowing season with mine. I've had it since April of last year. No problems except it's hard on belts. I'm on my 4th or 5th belt. Mines a 46" model with regular steering.
I'm proud to be able to say I've bought a brand new Allis Chalmers! Sure, it's not the same as it used to be but it's a good as it's ever going to get. I'm happy!
