I have a ACP60H 2PS forklift which I took to an older mechanic to get the brakes serviced. Unfortunately he died in his shop the same day he told me the forklift would be done. He had just put a new engine in a loader and what they think happened is there was a hammer sitting on the unit and the vibrations caused the hammer to fall into the fan which threw it into his head killing him. Pretty unfortunate. Thankfully the forklift wasn't tore apart as he had not started on it yet. But what its doing is basically braking hard. I'm having to push quite hard on the brakes to stop it. The brakes work good but its like its really wanting to drive hard and so I'm really having to apply a lot of pressure to the pedal to hold it back. it will easily lock up and skid its tires whereas it didn't do that before. The mechanic said he thought it was some switch that has something to do with the inching pedal. What would you guys suggest could be the possible problem here? I have not looked at the shoes to see what kind of shape they are in, could it be as easy as worn brake shoes? I thought that is what it was but then he talked about a switch for the inching pedal so thought Id ask on here. Thanks. Josh in Idaho.

May get one of the others to chime in as there should be a control on the trans operated by the brake fluid that basically allows the trans to slip or disengage when apply brakes may be stuck or seals bad. I would try to find a service and a parts manual to see where that if exists is located. Also may be able to follow brake line where may have failed a long time ago and been bypassed.

hmm... on my 50 series I have 3 pedals
left - brake/clutch mid - brake right - gas( well diesel..) speed it 'sounds' like you're using the mid pedal to stop BUT that one doesn't remove the drive power. It's like using both feet in a car with auto tranny..having both gas down to go AND brake down to stop.... The left pedal disengages the tranny AND applies brakes. IF the adjustment is out of whack and NOT disengaging the tranny, it operates like the mid pedal. Since you say you have brakes, I don't think it's a bad wheel cylinder like me BUT you could have a 'dragging brake' where the shoes are just a wee bit too 'tight'(close) and still engaged a bit after releasing the pedal. Something else to look at is the big spring that pulls the pedals up.Mine broke and it acted 'weird'. A quick inspection under the floor plate and it was obvious.... hope soemthing I suggested helps.... Jay |

Jay that does help thank you. Regardless of which pedal I am pushing on they both push the same, pretty hard on both of them. Ill start digging and see what I can see. Thanks.
