    Posted: 19 May 2010 at 10:43pm

My Father recently passed away.  I am now selling all of his Allis-Chalmers equipment.  I am taking offers.  All proceeds will go to my Mother.  The equipment is located in Kentucky.  Descriptions of the items are as follows:    AC Corn Chopper.  Not sure of the model.  Has been in this spot in barn for around 20 years.                                                                              AC Silage Blower complete with pipe and belt (same as chopper).              AC Post Hole Digger.                                                                          AC 2-14 inch Model 62 Slat Board Plow. Excellent plow. Complete with concave coulters and operating instruction manual/parts illustration.             AC 140 Manure Spreader.  Not used for about 2 years.  Was still in working order at that time.                                                                               AC No. 2200 Disc Harrow.  8 & 1/2 foot.  Bought new March 28, 1968.  Missing one outside disc on right front gang and one disc on left rear gang. Operator's Manual included.                                                                   AC D-15 tractor GAS.  Serial No. 18198  Bought used in mid-1970's.  Replaced original motor shortly after purchase with a crawler engine.  Dad said it needed to be overhauled now.  Has been in this shed for about 5 years. Includes Operator's Instruction Manual.                                          AC All-Crop Drill (13x7 Size).  Bought used in mid to late 1980's I think.  I never used it but Dad used it to drill in cover crops and hay crops (alfalfa, orchard grass, oats, etc...).  I think it is complete but not totally certain.  Comes with Operating Instructions/Parts Illustrations.                               AC D-14  Gas Tractor with Model 14 Loader included.  Serial No. 24907.  Loader Serial No. 5589.  Loader was bought new March 17, 1961.  The D-14 was bought new sometime before that.  This tractor and loader was rolled over in 1962 causing some fender damage.  It was rolled over again in 2010 causing more damage.  Tractor still runs good.  The photos show damage to the steering wheel also.  Operating Instructions and Parts Illustrations are included for both the D-14 and the Model 14 Loader.                                                                                                                                           I will include my email for questions and offers to buy.  You may also PM me. I am in and out quite a bit.  I will make every effort to respond to every inquiry. I live 2 hours away from the farm but will arrange to be there for pick up of sold items.    Thanks in advance for your interest.                                                       Doug                                                                                                            d.ball162@comcast.net

You have some good AC Machinery there. Appears to have been covered and oiled, that is a plus. Some info you may want to add; What is time frame to remove equiptment? Is the equiptment to be sold to highest bidder and at what time is highest bid to be determined? Will you accept a reasonable offer and commit to sell at that time? Thank-You,Chris/CT

You might also add to what Chris asked, if help loading equipment might be available. Maybe a neighbor with a loader tractor?

Yes, there are some nice items. I second comments from Chris/CT. Also, where in Ky is the equipment located? Can it be viewed?

There have been several very good questions posted regarding the sale of this equipment.  I will attempt to answer them all in this post.  Please ask more questions as you need to.  It's not a bother and I would want to know as much as possible myself if I were on your side of this!
  1. TIME FRAME:  There is no rush on this.  Mom owns the farm and machinery now. The machinery has been there for many years and can sit a little longer.  I am simply trying to help mom get some things squared away in the wake of dad's passing.
  2. BIDDING VS. REASONABLE OFFER:  This is a bit of a "hybrid" situation I guess.  If I get an offer I consider "reasonable", and there is not much interest in the item, I will accept it fairly quickly.  If, however, there is strong interest in something (for example...the D-15), I will probably wait a bit longer to gauge how high the sale price might go.  I WILL NOT try to "bid you up" by emailing or PMing you with how you have been "outbid".  This is not ebay.  IF YOU want to know this info, I can do that but I just don't want anyone to think I'm trying to run up the price.  You guys (and gals) have a pretty good idea of the value of these things and what you are willing to pay.  I respect that.  I hope this sounds reasonable to everyone.  If not, please don't hesitate to suggest a different method.  I will be fair to everyone.
  3. LOADING EQUIPMENT:  There is not a tractor on mom's farm to load with.  However, we know lots of farmers in the area who have big tractors with loaders.  Something can be arranged.  Again, we are not up against any deadlines on equipment removal.
  4. LOCATION:  The farm and equipment is located in Northern Kentucky approximately one hour from Louisville and Cincinnati, and about 1.5 hours from Lexington.  I am located in Elizabethtown, KY, about 2 hours from the farm.
  5. VIEWING EQUIPMENT:  This could be arranged.  However, I am 2 hours from the equipment.  We could try to work out something.  I just can't get there at a moment's notice for equipment viewing.

That is quite a collection you have there.I know you would like to get as much as possible for your mother. But I believe an auction would make good sense. You would only have to travel a couple times to get rid of everything in one day. That 2 hour travel is going to eat you up.A well advertised properly ran auction will bring you top dollar.Just my opinion.Good luck wish you were a little closer.

Doug, Thanks for info on your sale, sounds fair enough. If you continue with your private sale [ best in my opinion] keep everyone here updated as best you can. Chris/CT

To All:
Just to keep everyone updated, there has been lots of interest in the Post Hole Digger, All-Crop Drill, and Manure Spreader.
Some interest in the D-14, D-15, Disc, and Plow.
No interest expressed so far in the silage equipment.
Thanks,
Doug

Doug, I'm in E-town as well, out St John Rd. just past the air port. I've got a D-14 in new condition if you would like to see it. I may be interested in the D-15 to go with the 14 and 17 SIV. 270-735-6803 Thanks, Nick
