 Topic: AC 3 Bottom slat plow

3 bottom snap coupler slat plow. 16" bottoms that are spring reset, has the coulters but not pictured, also has the coverboards, guy told me it was a 3-74 series bottom. Field ready! plows great but works my WD-45 aliitle to hard. Any questions call me at 616 401 8432. $450

With the spring trip shanks, that's more likely an 83. 80 series, 3 bottom.

I had called to see about points and if you could still get slat parts and he told me that they never made a 80 series in a slat bottom.

I think there is some confusion here. Gerald is talking about the plow model # and your talking about the # of the bottom.

Virtually ALL AC plow frames could use practically ANY AC plow bottom. Slatted or not. They all used the same spacing of 9/16" bolts to hold the frog and the landside to the shank. At least from frames model 50 through 80, 9000 and 2000. Plow frames and plow bottoms are in separate books and I suspect were sold separately. You ordered a plow frame and the bottoms that you liked or that were suited to your soil in quantity to fit the plow frame and you or the dealer assembled the bottoms on the plow frame. The 70 and 80 familiies of plow frames could also be assembled for two or three different plow widths, so they might have been shipped as a box of parts to save on shipping volume.
I don't have my plow books handy, but I seem to recall a slatted bottom quite similar to the 124 or 125 that I'm certain would fit a model 83 frame.
The ONLY reliable way to identify a bottom is to find a part number on the frog, moldboard, shin, or share. Landsides were common to several bottoms but would eliminate a few. Occasionally with very good pictures from underneath the frog I've been able to identify a bottom from the details of the frog (whether cast or welded and how the shares bolted or were held on by J hooked bolts) from the plow bottoms book illustrations.

Jordan, I have a model 83 slat bottom- Gerald's got it right. I have some NOS slat point, but not sure what they fit.
