I hope to go look at a rear mounted mower for my WD next weekend. I do not know what model it is yet, but the fellow is supposed to send me some pictures Friday. Can you guys post some pictures of rear mounted mowers on WDs? Anything in particular to look for? I know next to nothing about sickle mowers in general, and even less about mounting one on a WD. Educate me please!

Adam, Here is a 80-R on a WD45 if you look at the mounting bracket on the tractor it's not a snap coupler like the # 7 mower is. both #80-R and #7 are good mowers the #80-R is newer than the #7. The old # three mower is a Pittman drive and will not take mowing at a hi or low angle on the bar like the #80-R and #7 will.

I see a lift link on the right lift arm - Doe this on lift arm lift the entire mower up and down? Is there an automated way to raise and lower the bar, or is it put in the mowing position manually?
Anybody got a picture of a #7 mower they could post or send me?

Adam, Yes the right lift arm is all that lifts the mower up on a 80-R, It is the lift and controls the mower height too. I will post a shot of one of my #7 mowers tomorrow for you. Don

Her is a shot of the shoe on the inside of the mower there is a shoe on the out side of the bar the two shoes are how you set the mower's ride hight. this mower is set to the lowest setting. Don

To me the #7 is easier to install than the 80-R. They both require you to get off the tractor and raise the bar and then put the rod into the bar for transport.

I said that wrong! You haft to put the rod on the 80-R, The #7 has a bracket that holds the bar for transport.

Not sure what model we had on the D14. When it lifted the bar would raise a up at an angle. There was a cable that did that as I recall.

Gotcha, I think I am begining to get it. The tractor lift lets you adjust the mowing heoght, but you have to manually raise the bar to go down the road. Close?

On some the bar would also tilt up somewhat to clear an obstacle in the field but you had to lift it manually to fold up all the way for transport.

It looks like this would work with my snap coupler linkage. I can't see the top of the cutter bar in the picture, how is the shoe on the outside end and the grass board?
