I was just offered what the current owner believes to be a 712 but it has what he says is a 10 horse. Here's the numbers I've gotten: ID 1690727, Engine 14863 A. Owner says it's K241S. Any help or leads greatly appreciated.

The engine numbers are for a ten horse.
10 hp = K241 12 hp = K301 14 hp = K321 16 hp = K341 18 hp = K361 The tractor ID# 1690727 Comes up as a 914 Hydro. That tractor should have had the K321 engine. |

Thanks A-Cmowerguy! I passed the info on to the owner. I'm not gonna buy the tractor for two reasons; 1) It's 7-8 hrs away and shipping would crush me. 2) I believe he's too high on the price. 3) Broke. Thanks for your help though! Have a good one!

Not that I need another project, I was just curious. If its in nice shape, $400. isn't to bad of a price. The second 716H I bought a few years ago had a 10HP Kohler in it. The PO blew the original engine up. I asked him if he still had the blown engine, (figurin' I might be able to salvage a good K341) but he said no he trashed it. It had a large window in the side of the block...

Yeah! LOL! Those block windows are hard to work around! I've posted the picture and description that I received from the owner. I've found several different models in about the same shape for much less. Then again A-C guys are few and far between here. Everybody wants those yeller cubs or "frogs" (JD's).

(Muffler blew out, put too much heat on regulator and subsequently battery went bad sitting dead, all this while it was loaned to my brother this past summer)" Edited by A-Cvtx - 18 Jan 2015 at 7:29am |

Yep that would be a 914H with a 10hp repower. If it had the correct engine in it I could see the $400 but probably not with the repower. That is not a Simplicity/AC spec engine.

ACmowerguy, I am new to this vintage lawn tractor disease. I got bit last year when I dragged Dad's old YT16 out of the honeysuckle and fired it up. Since then I've bought, sold, slobbered over and generally fell in love with the old machines "of my youth". I thank you for any help you and the other members have offered so generously.

That ole' girl is pretty straight. Not bad even though its repowered with the incorrect engine. I like the 700 & 900 series Tractors. They are tough old dogs...

A-Cvtx, many of us have gone down similar paths, to a good, satisfied situation (AC tractor owners; small, medium or large). Herb(GA)
