Guys:  Have been researching for some time now on the 650 series, I saw one picture on the internet of a 653B inside pushbeam dozer.

Questions - Did AC go with the B series for all of the 650 machines and if so were there any refinements over the 1st series. Am wondering if any members have any 650 B series?

Am assuming the 650 B series must have been very late 74 or 75 production

Thoughts and comments appreciated.

Thank- you...Orangeman

I didn't know there was a 653B machine. I have a 653 and everyone I see seem to be the same. Is there a visual difference between the 653 and 653B, like decals?

Albatros and Randaleky -  I don't know how to post pictures here but there is one on the net if you do a google search for Allis 653B it will come up.

The 650 series and 653B in the image look the same outwardly.   Did they have engineering updates for the engine and torque converter?  Since the 433 DI had improvements in the front thrust bearing area see discussion on the 6080 in the farm section ~ was it possible that they improvement on the farm application for the engine found there way into the 653B.  What other things could have been updated - who knows, thus the post and my inquiry.

Thanks guys!

Yes- 653B is located on the side of the tank.  It was a very nice looking machine!

That is a good looking machine. I'd like to get mine looking that good one day. As for the engine, I wouldn't think the thrust bearing would be an issue in a 650 machine since the 6080s problem related to the clutch and pto clutch. Those clutches ended up applying a lot of force on the crank and at startup on a cold engine doesn't turn out well. Now that's not to say there couldn't have been upgrades. Either way, a 653 is a good little machine.

I don't think a 650 series would be affected by that engine upgrade it didn't happen until 1983 or after pretty sure fiat was not building the 650 series at that time!
