Here is a pic of the U I just bought from Craigslist. Its rougher than the seller told me over the phone. The fenders are pretty bad, one front rim is rusted out and both rears have heavy pitting.The good thing is the engine is free. The rims are some type of factory spoke, not cutoffs. Where will the serial number be on this tractor? I looked on the flat plate next to the PTO and couldnt see one. I didn't want another complete project at the moment and was hoping to find one closer to running condition. I have about 800.00 in it including fuel to go get it. If anybody is interested, I will take what I have in it. I just didnt want it to go across the scales.

Pic if it works will be of the serial number location, under the yellow retangle. Model U and A without serial numbers are not uncommon as there was a problem with the differantial pins that ruined the cases and the replacments were often not stamped.

I would guess that this U has a replacement case then, I will take a wire wheel to it this evening to look closer. What will be the best way to determine the year with out a serial number?

The platform and fenders date it to post 1936. On top of the trans in front of the seat is a casting number U-?? that number gives some clue as to the casting date of the trans but I cant remember what number means whuch date. Dont confuse that casting number with a year or a build date.

Charlie, I thought 6011s was welden rods?
Actualy we is up to fourty thirteen now, wait a minute, I sold one too, back to fouty twelve.

6013 is my weldin rod. The Hollanders around here say sixtyleven not sixtyeleven sorry for the mixup. I think they mean a bunch. LOL

Fourty twelve, or more appropriately "Foetytwev" means any amount higher than we'all can count, which is ten,,,, UNLESS you was born bad, had an accident, or dont have any shoes on.
