i am going to start fabing one up for my self not sure were to start yet but that spline shaft is available through hub city     mtd had one in the 70s  for the 990 , also found a cat.0 tiller that would run 540 or 1000 it might be easyer to re gear the tiller in 1000 setting

Find and buy the hub city gearbox for one. Don't know if new ones are still made? They were over $500.00 back when tractor was new! Not many were sold!
5 different TT-10's,5 TT-18's Terra Tigers,B-10,2 B-207's,B-110,2 B-112's,HB-112,B-210,B-212,HB212,2 Scamp's & Homilite T-10. Still hunting NICE HB-112 & anything Terra Tiger & Trailers for them.

Yes Hub city made the gearboxes for them and other garden and compact tractors.
