except for my 5020, all of my allis are older...the ones i grew up on as a kid. any thing that's d-series or newer is not real familar to me. i learned yesterday where there's 3 d-17's sitting, that could be had for about scrap price. all are stuck and have been sitting out for a while. some tin is ok, some tin is missing, most tires are not ok, some rims are o.k. at least 2 are only parts tractors and probably all 3 are parts tractors. one has a trip loader on it. is there a demand for d17 parts out there? would it be worth my while to mess with these? looking for opinions.......alan

Get them,they are not throw away tractors especially if one is a series IV, were I'am at you could easily make a profit over the scrap price your paying.

worst case scenario un bolt the easy stuff and scrap the castings, the little parts usually bring the good money, yes it is worth your time

I'm looking for parts to convert my knuckle buster series I to power steering......looking at prices for a power steering package you could prolly do well just by selling those alone.

I would buy them, bring them home, part out two and try to make a good one of the best parts. There is a good demand for parts for them, just list the stuff on ebay. The items you can ship will bring good money, the heavier stuff you may have to sit on for some time. I know it's not the right thing to do to part them out, but you can't save them all, and at least by doing the parting out scenario, you're helping keep other ones running, rather then the whole thing going to China. I did this on two B's two summers ago, and I parted out the one that the engine was tight, and a cylinder sleeve was busted, and made enough money to pay for the whole package. I didn't get rich, but I did get one B for free for my efforts. And if you get them, I am looking for two hood panels for my HD3. I know D17's are longer and would need to be modified, but if they are solid and fairly straight, it would give me something to start with. Finding D15 hoods are near to impossible and whenever they come up for sale, they go for big bucks.

Get all three and then post good pictures on this site. You might be suprised how fast you can sell the pieces and you do not have to pay Ebay a cent.
