Bye, bye American guys,
drove my diesel to the levy and there watched it die,
those good ole boys lost to def, regin and efi
singing this will be the day the gearheads died,
this will be the day that we died....

Now the halftime air was sweet perfume
While Al Gore played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance

'Cause the players tried to take the field
The pollution police refused to yield
and the computers fried and the fuel rails killed,
The day the diesels died....
(repeat the chorus cause all we can do is sing,
the mafia with DEF other patents control and
will kill the diesel on this sad diesel day)

When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money..

Here is a video I took at a tractor show a few years ago of a prototype 12v53 Detroit. Should be a good addition to diesel day.

Holy crap! Can you imagine listening to that screaming demon all day? Wow! And I love the old 2 cycle jimmy's. Being a 53 series, it seems like it's turning more rpm than a 71 would. I bet it still wasn't over 2800 though.

Still have a soft spot for the old Detroits. Spent one winter driving a 69 Ford W-9000 powered by an 8V71. Later owned a Louisville with an 8V71 and another with a 6V92.
Would love to have a 12V71 or 12V92.  Spent diesel day driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel from Charlotte NC to Erie Pa.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

Here's what I used to contend with...

Not my D-19, but sounds similar, when cold starting...

Once the turbo gets on plane, she would smooth right out, but damn it would smoke till then...
