My 190xt is going to require splitting to repair its 3rd & 4th gears, compartment seals, maybe input shaft, brakes, & etc. I was wondering if anyone on here would share pics of their 190 splitting dollies, frames, jacks, or whatever you feel necessary to safely split tractor. Thanks

4 mattresses (no box springs) slid under tractor middle, log chain rear end to shop wall, puts a short saw horse under platform area, and a steel sawhorse under front frame area, unbolt, yank front end out with another log chain, if the front sawhorse bends or breaks it'll land on the matresses with no damage to the floor! ...........just kidding, i'm not Thad or Joe! lol

I'm waiting till spring early summer to split mine. I cut a 30" stump to just fit under the rear drawbar support. When we get the IH 1086 at the farm were I work back together I'll bring the splitting stand home. We use a hydraulic trany jack under the trany. And a factroy IH stand under the engine. Roll the engine and torque tube back. If you've got a cabyoullalso need cab supports. For the 1086 we cut 2x2 square tube to length and welded flat feet to the bottom. If you plan on moving it after split you need to back and side brace the cab supports.

Block the wide front axle so it can't tip. Raise the platform up 8 inches or so and place long enough supports at the fender mount bolts just ahead of the rear axle to hold it up. Bottle jack under the torque housing and safety stand it to correct height. With a 5 ft long 1 3/8" pipe slipped on the PTO shaft, roll the rear end away from underneath the platform, and when back far enough place blocking underneath the drawbar and it will sit right there. Takes three people to roll it apart and back together, but it's really pretty easy, and nothing special except platform props.

You guys are scaring me, I made a set of splitting jacks about a year ago. Here's some pics of a tractor in the shop right now getting a rebuilt trans/rearend.

For some reason I can't see your pics. But anyhow, so that the platform doesn't crack, when I was at the dealership, I was reminded to loosen the two big front platform bolts that attach it to the torque tube before jacking the rear of the platform up. At least that's what I was told and so that's what I did. Along with various lines and such that needed to be disconnected. I guess it's all just common sense things. It's been since 1994 that I've done one so consider that when listening to me. :-)

I just undone the ones in front of the fuel tank, I'm usually by myself and always roll the front away using a chain hoist, but this one I gotta swap the rear end and tranny, from another donor tractor,, this saves time for sure!
