I had posted earlier about not being able to get the 185 started after rebuilding the pump and was concerned I was out of time. Well after a number of days with help from a real dsl mechanic and the pump redone its running. Thats the good part. Now it's smoking like crazy and pushing raw fuel out the exhaust. What have I got going now? Injectors or still maybe a timing issue? If it is injectors is it just better to replace or should I get these tested/repaired. If I need to replace whats a good source? Thanks

I would have to say if you have raw fuel coming out the exhaust it must have an injector stuck open or a broken injector. Take them all out and have them tested/set up. Most times when we overhaul a pump we always do the injectors. Sometimes just the injectors and not the pump is all that is needed. If they dribble just a little it can make a huge difference in the way they start and some difference in the way they run.

Mystery solved - Out of time Didn't have much to lose so pulled the pump back and turn engine over one turn, reinstalled, runs like a new one. Gotta love a dsl but can be frustrating especially when you are doing a self paced OJT.

If you ever have the need to remove another one there round marks on the pump shaft and in side of the pump, they need to line up. Even if the marks in the window are aligned the pump can be 180 digrees out ot time if the marks in side are not correct. Hope this may help in the future.
