I torn in to my 190xt to put new main bearings and rod bearings and new rings I was told not to put new piston and sleeves in it since it was pulling tractor because you don't want them really tight because over the heat the make and it would make them gall,well I have a number 6 piston in bad shape looking for some help and advice on it clean it up and run it or what sleeve not in bad shape at all can be cleaned up I'm sure what do you all think about the piston clean up the galling and run it

A little bit of punctuation would make your posts easier to read.
Never reuse a scored/galded piston. I would run a hone through your old liner and use a new piston.

I agree. Don't use it if it is scored. Nothing wrong with replacing it with a used piston if it is the same part number. Of course the replacement part should be in good condition.

If the scoring started above the top ring I would consider using 15:1 pistons or reducing the diameter of your existing 16:1 pistons by about .040" above the top ring only. Sometimes in high heat (puller engine) situations the top of the piston will swell and drag on the sleeve. If it is only one piston that is damaged and the other five look good, then it was probably something else. If the damaged piston is torched through the ring lands then you better check the others for cracks. Too much ether can do that.

Thanks you all,I think I'll buy a new piston for it the other look good but this one is Galle on the bottom of skirt and by the wrist pin will get pictures of it in a bit when I go out to the farm,what a good way to clean the sleeve to prevent it from happening to the new piston? It all in the bottom by the crank shaft top half is in good shape no scoring in it but bottom has aluminum from piston on it what would cause it to do this all the galling is from the wrist pin down,no broke rings or lands or touched ring lands from either,the rest of the piston have the machine lines in skirt still, sorry about first post doing this from a phone what a p.i.t.a lol wish I was at work with a computer lol thanks for the help with it
