A '39 B , crank start, hand brakes, with hand lift cultivator is for sale.
Tires are ok, clutch is good, brakes are good, no engine noise or smoke. The oil pressure gauge is broken, but good compression. Some rear gear whine in 1st gear and reverse, not in 2nd or 3rd. Steering is tight. Tin is good.
The guy is asking $2750, fair price or too high?

Sounds kinda pricey to me. I don't know anything about the availability of a hand lift cultivator, that might add to the price some.

That is over $2000 more than I would give for another B, unless it is something different.

That kind of money should buy a restored B. I am not sure about the cultivator.

Thats quite a bit more than I would give for a early handcrank B. A good running B with New rims and new rubber, a quiet transmission, and no rust straight sheetmetal with a better than average gas tank and something like a arched adjustable front axle may fetch 15.
To a restorer or a small gardener needing a tractor to cultivate sweet corn 6 to 8 is a fair price.

Seems awfully steep to me. Too high to bargain down to a reasonable ($1300 or less) price. Look elsewhere.

Paid $1550.00 at auction for my last one and it was professionally restored.
Paid $350.00 for a running armstrong B with a sickle mower.

As much as I love the B and would be delighted to see this one get a great home price still seems too high. Remember, this is a non-restored hand crank B with a noisy transmission - which almost never happens in a B - and no hyd.
I don't know about now but let me give you a professional guestimate new - Tractor $650, cultivator $150.

Like many have said already, that is about 1500 too much for me around here. Hand crankers have plenty of disadvantages, smaller engine to start things off. Cultivators are also a dime a dozen it seems.

If you were closer and you was able to show up on my door steep with 900 bucks in green backs I have one with real good rear tires and the cultivators are hanging on it. It brought home a few trophy's 15 years ago. This B her! Notice the nylon ties to hold the number on the front for showing the pulling order. Weights wouldn't go with it. It would need a paint job now if it was to be for show.  Took a first in the 2000 and a third in the 2500 at that pull

i personally would not buy a B wit crank start unless i had a good lead on the electrical conversion. Its a $800-900 . tractor at most.

A friend of mine that has a 39 that I redid for him a few yrs back got offer $4000.for it at the state fair and he just didn t want to part with it.The guy wanted it bad and pesterd him for an hour but he would not sell.Why can t I find people like that ?
