 Topic: Calling WD45 Gurus

I have a couple questions regarding this 1956 WD45. It's new (to me) and seems to be pretty much original.
1) What are the brackets (see photo) near the bottom of the fenders for?
2) Can the bent lift arm (see photo) be straightened? Recommendations? Wonder how it got bent? (previous owner said it was that way when he bought it)

I'd take it to a first class welding shop where they can heat it, straighten and re-temper it. I've done that with fork lift arms.

Those brackets are most likely for a heat houser, a canvas winterfront if you will. Too hot going into the wind and froze to death going with the wind.
The lift arm could probably be straightened in a good press, but it would probably be the easiest to replace it. There are several members that part out WD45s and should have a set available. I think the last pair I bought was $40.00 for the pair inclusding the rockshaft.

O can't answer your first two questions, but I can the third. By lifting a load with a chain rapperd around both arms! or some similiar stupid stunt..........don't ask me how I know.
i have a straight one if you can't get that one straight, yours if you pay the freight, but, you may have to take the whole rock shaft and arms if I don't have the time to seperate

Yeah Lou, I have said "don't ask" several times. LOL. There are several salvage yards in this area........will probably just buy a whole rockshaft assembly......shipping makes even free deals impractical these days......thanks for offering........O_O

In your picture you have two brackets circled on the righthand side. The top one is one of the brackets for the hand crank. Should be another on on that side that the crank handle fits into.

It looks like that top link bracket got "tweaked" a little when the lift arm got bent?
You'll definitely have to straighten that 'cause you're not likely to find one of those
at your local farm equipment scrapyard. LOL

They are the same on all wd and wd45's Just get anther set easy to replace.
