Well, as the title says, I'm taking out the pto and putting a Hasl*g hitch on my 210 puller. One thing I noticed is the big return hyd pipe from the implement valve going into the pto housing. I hate to put a fitting in my new hitch. And after studying it with a good friend who is helping me on it, it looks like I have a couple options. The simplest looks like I could just take the idler gear out of the implement section of hyd pump. Then all the fittings at the valve could just be capped, and the return as well. That whole circuit would be dead. Now, my concern is what will that do to the priority/relief? I still have stock steering, and plan to keep it that way. I know buying a single stage pump could be an option? but are there any of them even around available? I don't like doing anything permanent to this thing. also, the pump leak off line on top, goes to the main valve and eventually dumps into the big return I want to eliminate. Could it be re-connected to the small return off the pto valve that dumps just ahead of the rh side brake housing? Any other ideas? I am taking off the hyd couplers too. No more recreational tillage with this one! I'd appreciate the input. Thanks in advance! Ed.

Ed, The only thing I can help you with is the pump question. The single section pump as used on non 3-point tractors doesn't do anything for you, it still has a flow divider to run the steering. The largest volume of oil goes to a two spool valve and remote outlets. If somebody could come up with the GPM needed for steering  it wouldn't take much of a machinist to fab up a drive plate for the proper sized gear pump and you could draw the oil from same place and dump it back at the handiest opening.

It looks like the steering/pto are completely separate circuits. The small section on the hydraulic pump is for the steering/pto right? Basically, I'll only use the hydraulic system for the steering from now on.

Ed, Been a while since I was into ours and my service manual is across town at the shop. If memory serves me right the big half of the two section pump is for the traction booster system. The small half ( or only part of one section pumps) runs the remotes and may also run the hitch when you use the lift lower lever.  Both pumps have a flow divider at the rear to run the steering. The PTO oil comes from differing places depending on options but I dont remember the details

Small section of the pump is "Traction Booster" only. Power steering and all hyd lift functions come from the large main section. If you don't want to drill a hole in the new rear cover, drill a hole in the top cover to the rearend and try to aim it near the differential.

oops had the sections backwards sorry.
 Here is a picture of the single section pump on our 220. Flow divider for power steering is at rear towards engine. Metal line going up is to powersteering and PTO valve. Rubber hose attached to other port is going to valve stack for remotes. Other line coming from front is oil from cooler.

hmmm, on the pic, the OUTLET is PRI and that is powersteering pressure thru cooler. The SEC is remotes and 3 pt and the other is a common passage - oil is going to the path of leas resistance...are you sure that is not t'd into pto valve off PS return?

Nope not sureConfused  Tractor had major hydraulic problems when we bought it and I had to figure it all out but that was too many years ago I guess, very sorry for any mis-info.  I should have stopped at my main point which is the single cavity pump does more than run the power steering,,,

so, in making a hose to replace the big pipe, which is return right? I should be able to use a lower pressure hose? They have a 250 psi, or a 3000 psi, which is really rigid. Also, can I make the hose smaller without any issue? In my mind, nothing is really even going through it except leakage. I'm planning to take the upper pipe off at the valve, so I can eliminate some extra routing. I'm also either going to drill into rear cover plate(part of hitch) or drill and tap into the top of the rear end housing right at the back. Input? Thanks in advance!

Lower pressure hose, yes. Keep it 1/2" inside diameter or MORE. You don't want ANY more back pressure than needed, as you are wasting HP and there is no relief valve on the return.

thanks for the input, makes me feel better. Now, I just wish the Hasl*g hitch would have bolted on like it's supposed to. We had to cut it apart and will put it on the tractor and then  tack weld, then take it back off and burn in a nice bead. Their wheelie bars are also not even close for a 210. The plates they provided must be for a 190. The sad part, is I have tried numerous times to get a hold of them, and never a return call from Dennis. VERY disappointed in their after sale service! When my customers have a question, I am always available! Dammit! lol! rant over.
