Has anybody ever converted a 426 over to gas? Just wondering because a local guy is running a 466 deere on gas in his 4010 and I thought it would be a good idea for the D19 since the engine in it is junk.

E85 is even better; Around here it's pump gas not racing fuel. Many classes ban racing fuel.

Put the spark plug in place of the injector then use crank triger ignition system cut the top of the piston to lower static compression and ratio only thing I havent com up with is intake manifold and a flywheel the size of the 301 drop it in a 190 and eat up some red

I'm pretty sure that is how the 4010 is. Running in the naturally aspirated class that we do the 466 gas 4010 usually does better than the 466 diesel 4010. Plus with our rules I don't think i could run a d19 since it came factory turboed. They might not care at first unless it started winning, then your'e out. Lol

Remove the diesel decal from the D19 and it's then a gas tractor and non-factory turbo
In those non-turbo type classes around here the spark ignition tractors rule over the diesels. 1/2 HP per cubic inch is easy with most spark ignition engines, 200 HP in a 19 sounds like pure fun. For more serious fun 1HP per cubic inch is obtainable with $$$ If you get serious I have an idea for the flywheel. The military generator engines have seriously large and heavy one piece flywheel that is useless for the normal tractor applications and they get tossed in the scrap bin. There is a lot of meat to work with but you would need a buddy with a VTL or large swing engine lathe.

Well i'll keep this idea on the table, but working on a 451ci farmall M right now, so it'll have to be in a little while. The farmall is nice, but i'd still rather be on something orange. Haha

I have a fresh 426 head that is ready with plugs in it, I have the header flanges to go with it as well. I also have a complete electromotive crank trigger ignition system. And various other parts. Pm me if interested.
