The tachometer on my 185 works fine, but the hour meter quit counting up. Then magically it started working for a short period of time and then quit again. What actually drives the hour meter portion of the gauge, and is there any place where might the problem might be other than internal to the gauge? Thanks.

The hourmeter is driven by the tach. Evidently something has gone wrong inside. like the plastic gear is worn. May be able to repair it by an instrument shop, might be cost effective to buy a new one. HTH |

New ones are around $90.00 so if you get a repair price you can figure which way to go that would be the best value. |

Where do I find a new one for $90? I called my Agco dealer and they wanted over $300 for a new one (I think it was $331). Agco has always been rather proud of their parts, but this was ridiculous.
