Other than the Age, What is the difference between these two machines ? What kind of H.P. Did they have? Are Parts still Available ? What kind of problems Did they have? Based on the Condition ,what price range do they usually fall in ? Looking For something to use on the Farm, Any and all opinions Appreciated ,Thanks Brad

The HD4 is older by a couple of years. The 653 had pedal steer on later ones, or better said pedal activated hyd. brakes. Parts are somewhat available. Prices are still pretty high on good units. HP is plenty for the machine, 4 cylinder non turbo diesel. HTH Tracy

Aprox 50 HP or so . 3 speed trany with torque  converter and fwd/rev clutch pack which operates with hyd pressure . 
 Parts are around but hard to find now as machine is a industrial machine and fit a small market  and farm use. 
 The engine can be gas or diesel as both use the same block - 2200 engine - this engine was used in fork trucks and was also used in cotton pickers - there with a turbo and making around 80 HP.
