The compressor on my 7060 locked up yesterday and I am hunting down the best way to repair it. There seem to be several options and all kinds of prices for them. I would like to know who has done what to theirs. RW

A local auto-parts store was the best price I was able to find for compressors.  JimD at www.oktractor.com had them for basically the same price, but I was able to save shipping costs at the auto store.  Quicker and easier for me to buy new than to repair.

Hard to believe that the 7060 model is 35 years old.
Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.

I got one for my 7050 last year for $280 at oreillys. Make sure to measure the oil that comes out of the old one and put the same amount back in new.

I had a Sanden conversiom kit installed in my 6060 after the Frigidaire locked up tight about 3 years ago. So far so good. Not cheap though.

Thanks for the input guys. I hate to spend my money and choices make me crazy. The GM style compressors leaked out the front seal new from the factory and a reman is a crapshoot. Leakage out them is worse with R134a. New compressors handle the R 134a better from a leak standpoint.
I may end up switching to the sanden style compressor.
