My buddy picked up a 1975 200 cheep, he was telling me about it and asked if I knew what a "transbooster" was. He said it was written on a lever on the floor I believe. I was not sure what he was talking about, is this like a tourque amplifier? Can anyone help out a couple of wanna-be farmers.

I was thinking traction booster too. If so, it is a torque amplifier, draft control, goes by different names depending on manufacturer. Helps keep tractor from spinning out by "bumping" the lift up a little when heavy load is detected, and then back down.(if set properly)

Mr.Dogg, The best thing you can do is get an owners manual and read it. It sure helps. That way you can tell the capacitys and what each control does as well a adjustments.

Traction Booster is basically a draft control system for the hydraulic lift.  It also boosts traction by shifting weight from the implement to the rear wheels of the tractor.

The "TA" on AC tractors is called a "Power Director" and it simpler, stronger and all around better than the Torque Amplifiers (TA) that IH used.  It is basically a double wet clutch that gives you a low and high range in each gear.
