I am going to put a D17 front end under it, and 38" pressed wheels with 18.4x38 or 16.9x38 on the back. How much more do you think I would need to strip to get it down to 6500 lbs. Also what could I expect to get for HP by turning up the pump on the 200. These two tractors are just sitting doing nothing so I thought I would give it a try and see if it is competitive.

You can get some nice power out of a 301 easy, had a 200 that was turning 150 no problem , just didnt abuse it in the field, the guys who made my 180 [AC mechanics ] always laughed that it was the only 180 at 200 hp with a loader ; get someone who knows a Roosa pump , easy power

The 6080 these mechanics were messing with turned 140 just with pump work, nothing special more done to it, but thats all they could get ; they said it would beat a Deere every time - just keep the RPM,S up

On another forum a guy said he was getting 120 hp out of his 6080 for field work. Seems a bit high, but who knows...

My uncle has a 6080 that has never been touched putting out 105hp from the factory.

Brian, what's going on with your WD or 45 puller do you have it tunned yet?? Looking forward to pulling against you...bring it Milverton and we'll see what it can do on a hard clay track. I've also seen a WD-45 with a B front end underneath.

Zyta; We dont have a WD puller, we have a D17 a D15 and a 79 Chev 4x4 with a 454 right now. I want to make the 6080 into a COTPA legal puller. What is the date for the pull in Milverton is it the fair date. I would only go that far if I could pull in 2 or 3 pulls on that weekend. Hopefully the both D tractors will pull better this year with 38" rubber on them. Got a set of 12.4x38 for the D15 and 15.5x38 for the D17. I am still wondering about the weight.

Also in the first post I meant the 200 cu in motor in the 6080 not a 200 tractor. My bad, I should have said 433. Also in another post some one said a 433 was just a shorter 301. Would the hood and everything fit if you put a 301 in the 6080.

Brian, a 301 engine itself would probably fit. However, accessories like the radiator and air cleaner would not fit under the hood without major surgery. The rad on a 301 looks wider than that of one on a 433.

Id say as far as the radiator and other "under hood components" they could be modified to fit being that its only a puller. Most pullers dont have a radiator anyway they have filled blocks, and only necesary componets.

I wouldnt go so far as to say "most" just yet, although it is quickly getting there. If your planning on pulling it, move the radiator forward and eliminate the air cleaner. That is what you definately do not need to pull.
We have our heads filled on our pullers but still run water through the block. We do have our tolerances opened up that once the sleeves start to leak, we will then drain and run dry. Even then, we will need to run fans moving air through the water journals to cool it off for a pulloff. Oh, and you need to almost double your oil capacity to disipate the heat.
