    Posted: 23 Mar 2010 at 2:47pm
Wanted check the shims in D - 14 power director. Manual tells how to do it and shows a "hole gauge" to measure the shim gaps. Where can I get such a hole gauge? The places I have checked only have caliper type gauges.  Anybody done this with calipers. When I inquired about hole gauge I just get blank stares , even after I try to explain and show pictures. Have checked various hardware stores, Chain stores, Auto parts stores - none of which had a clue. There was a lady in one of the auto stoes that know what it was and said her Dad had bought one from a particular store (which closed about 20 yrs ago -LOL)

Jim, No more than you would use one,I think Habor Freight has them. I got two sets one good one and a cheap one. You can`t hardly tell the difference. Sears may even have them.

Hey Burgie - Good to hear from you. Tried my Sears - one of those blank stare answers.
Harbor Freight might be worth a check - thanks.

in alot of cases when it calls for a hole guage, I will just use a similar sized drill bit.
