I have a 200 allis with a 450 roosa master bigger injector lines and 4 hole .020 injectors and currently a 3lm turbo. the tractor is in the build stage right now but its running and almost ready to go. planning on running 8 mph with 18.4x38's in the 7500 to the 10500.
my main question is will the 301 with that pump spool the 3lm turbo? or do i need to look elsewhere for a turbo, like hx35 or hx40? thanks in advance for any help.

I'd lean more to the HX35 than a 3LM466 on a 301 with a Roosa.

Limited to 3,000 RPM it should work. If it more than 3,000 then yes is will definitely spool it.
The Holset or any newer turbo of the same inlet size will make more power and probably spool easier and lug better (especially the HX35), but you may as well try what you have first and see how it works. Good luck Edited by O.P.S. Heads - 07 Jun 2014 at 8:05am |

Keep in mind there are a couple different exhaust wheels and a few different compressor wheels for the HX35 and HX40 turbos. There are also different compressor wheel blade counts from 6 blade, 7 blade and 8 blade. So do a little research before you buy one to be sure it's what you want.
When comparing the Holset's to the 3LM the 56 - 58mm compressor inlet is comparably sized to the 3LM. You can get this compressor in both the 35 and the 40. The difference is the exhaust wheel choices are bigger with the 40. You can also get up to a 60 mm inlet (if I remember right)with a 40. Edited by O.P.S. Heads - 07 Jun 2014 at 8:22am |
