My friend has two d 17s im not sure of the serial numbers but one has a bar grill and the other has a normal grill.I amd doing a d14 with a normal grill which its the first yr of the 14 from the serial number mine has the bar grill which is a 58 from the serial number. My question is did allis do any of these grills all black? he keeps telling me that when I do his 17 it should be all black grill. But everything I have found on this subject has been that the first yr was all orange grill and the bar grill was black bar and silver grill mesh.Has anyone found any more imfo on this and where ? thanks

From What I have learned, the D17 had an orange Diamond shaped mesh grille from 57-59 and had a black "bar" grille in 1960 and then had a cream colored rectangle shaped mesh from 61-67. I believe the d14 was the same
the Black and silver Bar grille was a late 1959-1960 years only Matt |

According to the Allis Chalmers tractor data book from D14 number 19001 and up were a silver grille with three black horizontal bands and border. D17's were the same from 24001 to 31625
