Hello, I Bought a Allis Chalmers 310D a while back and I don't know what the D means on it I plan on rebuilding it. or is it not a 310D it just has parts from one?

Thanks for looking. im just confused because the only things I can find on the 310D is that it might be a diesel but my motor isn't.

Tiller and pto drive is worth $150.00 and up if good condition. Moldboard plow is over a hundred also! So you got a good deal!

is that why the decals are different? I was going to replace them but cant find that style. so im thinking I will tape off the decals and paint around. Im going to rebuild the motor, buy new tires and repaint it, also I need to replace the tail light. as for headlights it doesn't have any but I was going to install some. or would it be best to leave the paint and not install lights? if I was to sell it what would be the best?

Gary and Jeff, the Maple Decals linked are not correct for his model, though he could probably make some. This is an early 300 Series with B-Series style side decals.

Wells sells them:

The Maple-Hunter decals are for later models where the model number was incorporated into the decal instead of placed below the hood on the side panel as on the early models.

Well after looking again neither are correct because the 310D (early model) had a letter "D" following the "310"  Well's set is just for a standard model 310.

I think I will do my best to save the decals on it. I have until im done rebuilding the motor to find the right decals or just tape over these and paint around, I hope there isn't a big difference in shade of orange my local farm store has two types of paint for allis "New allis chalmers" and "Old allis chalmers" I will have to see what looks like this one. anyone have tips on restoring this allis? I haven't restored lawnmowers before only motorcycles and parts of a allis chalmers D17.

Any good vinyl decal shop can make them. And Maple Craft or Click it and Stick it could make correct ones. take measurements and good straight on picture of old one. I would take old one off and paint. As it won't look good with old one on! I made that mistake once! Was in a hurry and left on ones on side and the rear fenders on B207. And ending up removing dash, fenders and sanding again and repainting to fix!

The garden tractors were painted with Corporate Orange. I would think the "new" color will be the closest. The "old" is probably more of a persian orange #1.
