Went to my first sale of the year today. Not too many in this part of the country, less then one per week. Hoped to get a nice NI 6 x30 corn planter but it brought $5,000, saw a nice one sell for $1,600 in Dec. The tractors amazed me, Oliver 770 w Farmhand Fll loader, $4,800, JD 2750, nice but 7000 hr, $12500. IHC 1066, 8000 hr, $8000. JD 4040, 7200 hr, $23,000 and a JD 4430, 7900 hr, $16,250 All were nice but seemed pretty pricey - and of course, the wrong color!

New technology drives new tractor price increases, and that fuels the used tractor prices. Aside from technology, iron in general has risen in price, plus the trucking to get it different places. |

very interesting prices, thanks for posting. Those JD prices are unreal, huh. And that IH 1066 brought plenty as well. I am forever wondering to myself about the prices JD's bring vs what AC's sell for. I'll never condemn a JD or a JD owner (unless they dis me first), but a person could buy 2 or 3 7000 series AC's for what the 4040 brought. Seems like if you like JD, they work for ya, and if you like AC, they work. I'll always love AC! Better quit rambleing before I stir up a hornet's nest! Darrel

I've noticed the prices at the auctions I've attended the past few weeks have been on the high side. Weather has been adverse, yet a lot of people coming out. Seems like everyone has cabin fever. Even stuff off the rack has been going high.

Eric speaking of technology a buddy of mine has bought a 385 Case IH with auto steer. Says he needs someone that knows something about computers to drive it. Says it has a heated leather seat in it and that must be so you can drive it around all winter practicing before spring hits.

Brother in law speculates that prices for some of the older tractors are going so high because they do not have all the new technology and you can actually still work on them. May be something to that.

Everything is going up now and land is nuts. 150 acres sold under pivot Thursday for $8,025 an acre in Seward County Nebraska. This is a first for NE in this price range. Most irrigated had been in the 6K range.

Dan, the NI planter had the Deere copies, in like new shape. Some of the irrigation pipe sold for more then new price. More people there then usual, it's been a long winter for us.

Kevin it could be better, after the first tournament I'm 68 out of 200 in points but I'm on a waiting list to get in the next on the 14th of March hope I get in there wise there goes my points run. And yes I needed that seat for the first tournament cause it was in the mid 30s and had 15-20mph winds and occasional sleet and that made for a long day being out there from daylight to 4 o'clock.

Green guys in the northeast are scooping up the good used tractors to stay away from the new technology, especially the pollution stuff so used tractor prices seem pretty high.

Al I think you're right, new epa regulations have made engines into fuel guzzlers unless they are "tuned" and you need to be bill gates to understand them.

Incredibly high prices for such high hour machines. Nothing like that around here. 120 acres near me sold for $5600/a. Old hog money. Rather overspend than give it to Uncle Sam. (to pay back bailout money)
