 Topic: D19 w/301 questions?

My father and I came across a D19 for really cheap, when I say really cheap I mean the guy who owns it want to trade my father for one of his 20 some year old horse. He problem is that the engine is stuck big time and instead of rebuilding it I know where there is a good 301 sitting that I can pick up for a couple of hundred bucks. Will the 301 fit in the 19 and if so what is all needed for parts? If it doesnt work out the owner of the 19 is going to scrap it and eventually the horse is going to the glue factory.

It would much easier to rebuild the original engine than to try and put a 301 in it, the 301 is about 3-4 inches too long.

anytime you can get rid of a horse DO IT! Who cares what the tractor is, it can sit until you find a motor. The horse on the other hand.....

I agree on getting rid of the horse, been bucked off one to many times! Dad really wants a 19 to add to the collection considering the WC, WD, wd45, d15, d17 so it seems right to add to the d-series. If I could find a good 262 gas for it it would be a done deal. She is pretty rough though, tin is rust, dented, bent up hydraulic ends missing with hoses pointed up in the air , gas tank is missing cap full of water/ice. I would take it on but I have to many irons in the fire with trying to get the WC ready for this year.

You need the plate from a 180-190 xt or other 301 blocked tractor... combine motor works good due to no hyd pump drive and being plentiful... I'm lineing up parts to do the same thing but will be a puller... pusher fan may be necessary and eliminate the belt drive fan.

Wi50, good thing I didn't ask if you would trade a motor of motor work for a horse? Lol though we still have a few burning up beef pasture, I'm sure dad wouldn't mind getting rid of one or two more!

Its not overally difficult. We have one sitting in the barn with a side arm mower on it. Used the 301 rear plate and 190 side rails. Just put a spacer between the tank and hood sides. Really made a good tractor out of it.
