Nathan, the early WC's (to the best of my knowledge) had 4cylinder flat head Wakeshua engines in them. If they did use LeRoi engines then I am mistaken. I know that the early B used a flat head Wakeshua engine also. I am certain though that the 6-12 used a flat head LeRoi engine in it. I know where there are a couple of spares that have been purchased incase parts are needed for a 6-12. I don't know what your intentions are with wanting to purchase these engines, but if they were used in the early WC's you still would need to have the correct bell housing. The early WC's and B's had cast bell housings and torgue tubes that were particular to the engine they used. At that time there were no adapter plates to help in installing different engines. I hope this helps, and P.S. - I am posting this under ted's name as he is laying on the couch sick! LOL

It depends on what your looking to do with them .I bought a power unit a few yrs back that had the d15 engine in it for 150 at an auction the motor was set up but I don t think it would be a big problem getting it running.you can use the leroy motor in the wds wc and the 45s or the 17s if you need to so if they have not run in a while I would not go to much on them I don t think he has anything there that is in that high of demand for most people but if you have a use for them p would try 100 for them each

Matt, the Leroi company bought block castings from AC as far as I understand and will bolt into a WC or WD.
I can't help you on price Nathan.

I saw a Bantam drag line a few years ago with what I thought was a 45 engine. It had no push rod cover, but it had a fuel pump were the oil filter should be. I looked a little more and found the Leroi plate on the top rear of the block next to the bell housing.

we are rebuilding a 226 power unit, have a 226 in a 38 wc that we use for my dad at shows and it is a horse. might try to find another unstyled wc and put it in that tractor. if we do there will be a very nice brass leroi radiator and clutch stand for sale

I just got one a 226 Lerio power unit off a bean picker nice looking unit low hrs not siezed. Has really cool looking intake and exhaust mainfold that appears to be a lot better flowing than the WD & WD45's. I really think this unit would run nice in a 45 or WC.

i have one i'm trying to get running again. There is very little difference between the leroi, and the wc/wd motor. I'd really like to find a couple rods and pistons to put mine back together. Do you know anything about their condition?

The one I have just needs going over and I think it will run fine. These engine have heavier main bearings/crank, better cam and govenor run at higher rpms. Also the combustion chamber is in the head.

well i am the one who gave him the info. some lerio 226 engines had a combustion chamber in the head and the gov. weights are heavier which makes them have a stiffer gov spring. The lerio gov spring used with the lighter allis gov will run over 3 grand in rpms. the lerio block that has the combustion chamber head has canted caped 8 inch long rods the flat head version has the allis 7.5 long straight cap rods. I own a complete lerio centaur tractair propane version. It has a six cylinder block and the back two cylinders that feed the 125 cfm have a 5 inch piston. thats how I new a 5 inch sleeve would work in a 226 allis. I am not a expert on them but do own one.

The guy I got this motor from is into engine building model T engines etc.. and he says the Lerio was the cadalac of engines.. if you compared a (plain 226 AC) not the D17engine versus the Lerio 226.

Its "leroi" guys. Back to the original question of the post. What you pay is entirely subject to the condition, and if it is what you say it is, that being basically a d201, leroi's version of the allis 201, Its value is basically the same as what you'd buy the allis motor for. My suggestion would be if its stuck, offer $200, and known good running condition $600. Then somewhere in between for anything else. Remember i'm baseing this on what you've said about the engines. If they are in fact the engine like mlpankey described, i'm sure they'd be worth more, but otherwise like i said, worth no more than the allis version
