Just to post it.  No real reason.  Like to see the pictures and need to look at something other than this snow we're having again.

Dave, how big is that disk that you are pulling?  I just got a D17 series 4 and my dad has a JD 12' disk over by him and he was going to sell it, and I told him to hang onto it for awhile for me.

Chuck, it's a 13' disk.  No problem pulling it.  It's really a nice combination.  I really enjoy working it with the D17 IV.

I have a JD 12` disk and have pulled it with a D17 . The soil type and condition makes a big differance. Disking down corn stalks or grain stubble is no problem as you can pull it usually in 2nd Hi first pass and 3rd Hi after that . It`s when you have a soft plowed  field and or steep hills you`ll  be down in low range . Having at least 16.9 -28  tires with fluid and weights is a big help.

Brings back good memories of the first Allis I ever drove when I was about 7 or 8 (Parents didn't know about it lol).  We had an early series 4 diesel D17 (5 bolt front hubs) that my Dad traded in for a NH when I was about 12 I think (about 8 years ago).  It apparently got sold to someone somewhere in KY, I think near the Indiana border or something like that, and is now restored to show quality.  I still want to track it down and see it again one day.  Great tractors.  Ours was a SC instead of a 3pt too, as all of our stuff was SC until my Grandfather traded in our older fleet of D17s in for 180's except for the series 4 diesel.  It was a great square baling tractor.

Yeah its a project like most of the other tractors I buy but I enjoy fixing them and using them I plan to restore this tractor to better than new and then put it to work with the hope that it will last another 50 years

Dennis; The tires are 14.9 x 38. My tractor came with the standard 16.9 x 28's. 13.6 x 38 were a high clearance factory option along with the long spindle front axle. I used this tractor to cultivate 400 acres of kidney beans and needed a narrow tire. This is the tire size that should have been standard equipment. I have since found a high clearance single front wheel that I may install since I've retired from growing kidney beans.
The rear rims are the same as a MF 65 high arch and that where these rims came from.
The front rims are from a Gleaner A for the correct offset to get a 60" spacing. The standard D-17 6 bolt fronts were either 58" or 62". Not good for following planter tracks.
The D-19 front rims also gave me a 60" spacing.

Very refreshing post.  Calvin thanks for including where you got your taller rear tires.  Great looking tractors - all of them.  Dave(NE) great disk combination.  Mike Groupa great looking mower rig.  Andrew, you always have great tractors.  Dennis in MI, I wish I had a shop & tractor like you have on your trailer - looks like hours of fun & entertainment getting the ol' diesel girl going again.
