D14 Lift arm problem

   I have a D14 we just bought that I have been working on and the lift arms will not go down. I just changed the hose inside that goes from the ram cylinder to the transport valve. The cylinder and arms moves freely when I had the transport valve off and when it was apart. It has new fluid in it and they will raise but will not lower. I tried putting my brothers and my weight on it which is over 400 pounds. still wouldnt lower. One guy I spoke with said it was probably the hold valve  sticking. I looked in the manual and see what he is talking about. I was trying to read about removing the pump assembly. I was wondering if that sounded like it was the likely problem to you guys and how tough of a job it was. Also, I did try to adjust the traction control to see if that was engaged and not allowing the arms to lower. I went both ways at the adjusting block . no change.

	The 'hold position valve' is probably stuck or the linkage to it is not adjusted right. According to the I&T AC-201 book,page 73, Fig 146, it's item #20.the control rod is up and left of it.Good news is that's outside work ! Fig #150, #23 is the housing,has hose to ram,hose to TB gage,rod to lift/lower.#17 is the plug that holds the spring and ball inside.Carefully unscrew as there is oil in there,spring and ball may come out so have good lighting and CLEAN rags underneath. Maybe some 'crud' in there or rust(?) from sitting around with water in oil ? Hopefully, some of what I wrote makes sense..Others have had their's apart,my D-14s are still virgins! Good luck, let us know when you're up and running and what cures it!! Jay

	Make absolutely sure your Traction Booster (short lever) is all the way down(horizontal) and the Lift-Lower lever is all the way down as well (as far as it will pull down even lower than horizontal). The adjustment rod under the tractors belly needs to be made longer to reduce the Traction Boosters affect (if it has anything to do with what's going wrong). Hold valve is inside the tractors belly, not outside.

	I did check the linkage and on the lift/lower lever, I removed the linkage rod to make sure it was going all the way to the "lower" position. I also made sure the traction boost lever was all the way down. When you mentioned making the adjustment rod longer on the traction boost,do you mean loosening the jam nuts so the rod goes forward, towards the front of the tractor? Looks like my next step is to remove the hydraulic pump and look at the hold valve. I'm going to do it anyway, but how bad of a job is it to remove the pump? From what I can tell reading the I&T it doesnt look too bad.

	Which manual is the best for understanding how to adjust this. Also is this the same for method for the wd45?

	very interested in what you find out .. same problem with my d-15 series 2.except i cant get the lift arms to go up or down
