    Posted: 28 Jan 2010 at 11:34pm
i was wondering if aluminium would stand up to the pounding of having weights hang off of it. im talkin about the side brackets infront of the rear wheels of a 45 and a bracket sticking ahead 20-24" with weight on it. i have brackets in these positions and was thinking of going aluminium to save weight... i realize there would be just a few pounds difference.. but is it enough weight savings for the extra money???
thanks
if farming was easy everybody would be doing it

Dumb question. Why do you want to save weight on a weight bracket ?

I know alot of pullers with aluminium brackets and work great. How far can front weights be? Some rules are 11 foot from center of rear axle. I want my tractor as lite so I have a choice where to put the weights. It was a good question. 3200lbs with a driver is lite for a WD.
