Well.. got that tach drive for a 1960's Chevy Corvette....same exact size and length as the D-19s original tach gear...put it in there..and it turns!! :) YAY! WOOT! I couldnt get the tractor started to actually get the tach turning good. It is too cold out and I can't get the tractor started...but that tach gear is the correct one. Here is the website to get one. This is a lot cheaper and more available than what AGCO has to offer. Let me know what you think! Hope this helps some guys. http://www.zip-corvette.com/ProductDetails/ProductDetails.aspx?pid={3d315e38-0988-404a-94e3-09e926ccd539}&pname=62-74+Distributor+Cross+Shaft+Tachometer+Drive+Gear&Referer=QUICK_SEARCH&Alias=1963

Austin, I don't know anything about D19 tach drives, but it's great that you located a parts source at a more reasonable price than AGCO wants. Let us know how it works when it runs, please.

Wonder if that would work in a 190 Allis? My cross shaft gear is stripped but dist. gear looks good yet.

D-14 is the like d-17's...which i think you can get yet. JC..I think the 190 Gas was the same as the D-19's...so yes..it should work. This gear does turn inside of there..Itis turning the cable..I checked..It is just that it is not turning fast enough to show up on the tach gauge...cause i can't get it running. Tomorrow I will get it running and I will let you know FOR SURE...but like I said. It is the same exact thing as the one that was in there and it fits and turns as i turn the tractor over. |

Glad you found an alternative source Austin. Last I time I looked some of the parts are not available.

If I remember correctly the dist. numbers were different between D19 and 190, but that does not say they don't fit.
Did you count the number of teeth on the old gear as to the new gear?
Thanks, JC

We owe ya one big time. When I checked at AGCO about a year ago the price was close to $100 but out of stock.

Now what else uses this same tach gear?? I am pretty sure the 190 Gas uses this same one...any other tractors use this? |

If we're talking about the driven gear on the adapter that goes in the hole on a diesel that would have the distributor for a gas version, then it should be the same for a D17D.

Afraid I have some badnews now....It was working..now it has stopped..I think the main shaft gear that drives the new gear is roached! It looks wore, but I thought it would be okay. My guess is that part is impossible to find. But the tach gear was working! I just think that main shaft as been roached because of the other gear that I have already replaced was bad...I guess i took 1 step forward and now 2 back... :(
