 Topic: Question 180 Carburetor

I was wondering the 180 uses a 265 G2500, so does the 190. Are the carburetors from the two tractors the same? I know the difference between the 190 and 190XT is the carburetors on the 190XT have bigger main jets and I think venturi. Guess what i am asking is will the 180 carburetor work on the 190 with jet and venturi changes. Thanks for any help.

If memory serves me correctly, the 180 is a different (and smaller) carb than a straight 190. It will work sure, but hp will be less (and maybe use less gas?).

I have a One-Eighty gas and I've always wondered about the opposite, making my G2500 in it run more like a straight 190 gas. Sort of like building what AC might have done if they made a 185 gas. Doesn't the 190 gas turn more RFP's as well? Or was that just the 190XT gas - I don't remember. Not that I have any real plans to do it, I just thought it would be an interesting hypotheical exercise. Mike

180's were rated at 2000 rpm and the 190/190XT at 2200 rpm.....two changes...carb size and rpm setting.

Brian - very funny as in fact I work in Offer Control here at Alcatel-Lucent. Working on RFP's (Request for Proposal) from our telecom customers is part of my daily work. So you can say I have RFP's (and RFI's and RFQ's) on the brain. Mike

I thought most 190 gassers had the wonderful Holley carb? I replaced mine with a Valubilt Zenith that was more dependable and better on fuel.

The early 190's did have a Holley (and I think the early Xt's did too), but many were converted to the cast iron "Bendix" style for better performance....some under warranty and some not.

Just wondering...did the 180 gas tractors all come out with the 265-G2500 engines? The 180 I recently bought has a 301 gas engine in it,I was told. Did they actually put the 301 in some of the 180's? This thing has a lot of power either way. Kinda curious now. Rick

no, 180, and 190 gas only used the 265, if it has a 301 gas, someone put a 190XT gas engine in it. I believe once they quit making the 265 gas engine, they quit offering a 190 gas, could only get an XT in gas. I bet it does have lots of power, but will love to guzzle gas!

Ed, Are there any particulars in identifying the differences between the 265 and the 301? The Agco dealer that I got it from acted like it was original and I deal with these guys a lot. If it does like gas,that might be the reason the gas gauge doesn't work...maybe someone unhooked it so they didn't have to watch the gauge drop! LOL! Rick

Rick - the engine tag on the left front of the block would be marked G2800 instead of G2500 if it has the 301 gas in it. What does it say? Or is the tag missing. Mike

Mike...I don't know what the heck I was thinking about! LOL! I already knew what you pointed out,but never even gave it a thought. The tag DOES show G-2500,so it IS the 265 gas. I'll have to tell those boys the next time I see them. It does have a lot of guts though and runs superbly. Rick
