Someone had posted on here about that LIFE magazine article on the AC strike. I went to a antique mall today..and one whole booth had nothing but LIFE magazines..and lo and behold that issue was there. February 3rd, 1947. Cots me $5. Had some interesting photo's in there to.

YOu know, I remember reading that article when it came out in 1946 (?). I know that year when we could have sold ANYTHING we got SIX tractors. Most of them C's.
I firmly believe that communist inspired strike was the beginning of the end for Allis Chalmers.
Remember they went into WWII in basically third place in the Farm equipment industry. When this was over they never seemed to do better than 5-6.
Would love to see the article. That was a MEAN strike.

Would like to see it too. I think A-C workers went on strike in '68 also. The neighbor had a 190 XT in the assembly line when it happen. |
