With all of the talk of Agco and the orange product and out sorceing tractors, I thought I would post a few pictures I came across. When Allis went to renault for the 160 they also sent a 7000 series over seas to be labled as a renault.

Very interesting photo of the "Renault" version of the 7000 series. I didn't know they did that.

Always wondered if the 160 or Renault tractors were any better than their cars. |

The people that have 160's seem to like them. Their cars did suck.

I have a one-sixty and think it is a very nice tractor. Only issue is the cost and availability of parts. Dave

I have a 160 and a 6040, they are both dang good tractors. Extremely fuel efficent, perfect rake/tedder tractor and square baler tractor.

I'm not saying it is fair but the way I feel about a Renault car (even though I never owned one)I could not buy a 160, I wonder if it hurt their sales, new or used. To me it would be like a Yugo or a Kia tractor.

Doesn't Renault own Mack Trucks? How does that work out?

I have ben using a 160 (with loader) for 30 years on our dairy farm, It is one of the toufest most realible tractors I have ever owned, We used it 7 days a week for 15 years and it was rare that it would let us down.

The 7000 series where never sold as Renault here in Europe. It was just a prototype tractor. Renault built there own tractors in these years compared in HP to the 7000 series.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the timelimes would not correlate to connect the One-Sixty and the 7000 series. The One-Sixty was introduced in 1969 and the 7000 series was not released 'til 1974.

Renault did own Mack but sold it along with their truck line(renault trucks) to volvo, but renault owns 20 percent stock in volvo. Volvo car brand is owned by ford but is being sold to a chinese company. Business is very twisted these days.
Currently volvo and mack have merged their engines. Basically a new engine bought in either truck will have a volvo developed bottom end(it was stronger) with a mack top end(the electronics were 20 times or more powerful). Other than that they are pretty different trucks |

Brent, I did not word the post real well. Renault was sending over the 6040 when the 7000 series was being made. I was just pointing out the fact that it looked like Allis sent something over there. Thanks for the correction.
Johan, I saw a sale flyer from remault with 2 models offered 7030 and 7050. They had renault number in the fyler. I have never actualy saw a real one before. I have no idea if they were ever sent over. They could have been put together by Allis and sent over for testing. Hard to say. Does the guy in the Cab look French or American. LOL
