I was over at the shops varmites site, some one was talking about not being able to get on farm equipment site last saturday i believe. One of the people tought Darrin could use some extra money to keep this site going. Well I will be the first to send him what he needs. I cant seem to get along without my fix of orange! If I am out of bounds on this idea tell me and I will forget it. Lets have some discussion on this Thanks

Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.

I wouldn't have trouble paying a small fee either but wonder if its a storage issue as it says when it won't let you on then why not just let Darrin delete a lot of the old post and kinda clean house to give it more space. Of coarse I don't know much about how these programs work it may not be feasible.

I would pay a large subscription fee to have the forum back to it old format, personally it would be worth it to me.

I would have no problem with a fee either. Actually, due to the extra time and paperwork involved to keep all the government happy, that might make it an impossible task for Darrin. If he were to just put out a request, I'm sure many of us would just send a one time donation so he could invest in more storage or whatever is needed to keep it going. Don't have a real answer, but more than ready to help.

Using foxfire and/or chrome can often make a difference. I use all 3 browsers and if one hangs up I just hit this site with another.

The probelm is not a storage one, even though the error message you sometimes get indicates that. It's a database error. I'm not even well-educated on the problem, ut he has told me it is a database version problem.

Whatever it is it is not consistent. I can almost never get on here by punching "farm equipment" from the forum home. Sometimes can get on by punching the last post and then expanding the dates back a few days. Sometimes I can ge on by punching on the "allis chalmers" right above the farm equipment/ construction and other then hit farm equipment from there. Changes all the time. For this post I came right in from forum home. Yesterday I could not get on here no matter what I tried. Its a pain in the neck to get on here more times than not. Search never works, just causes a long delay then page expired. I am on 3-4 forums each day and have no problems elsewhere.
Not complaining just posting the facts as they exist from my computer in an effort to help solve the problem.

So what you're saying is the computer and the software aren't playing well together?

I'm with Steve-Ohio. I would pay a membership fee to have the old site back. That would at least help keep out some off the politics. I would even be willing to pay for some members that couldn't afford it. I posted this somewhere on the old site a while back. Brett |

The easiest way to support the site and Darin would be to purchase a model from his business.

I'd like to offer some ideas about all this. They're not intended to be critical of any of the ideas or comments posted on here about the recent techy problem(s), and I hope they're not read that way by anyone.
So....my take is that Darrin has gone where he needed to go (this version of the Forum) and that there are technical issues that need solving. There seem to be two kinds: those related to a specific user and those that apply to everyone.
I've not had the kinds of issues described by Butch(OH) (which, for what it's worth, sound like a royal PITA). Would it be possible that Butch(OH) has been lucky enough to find ways around the deadend that everyone's been hitting? Most of us just go away and do something else when that happens, but Butch has been clicking on anything that moves and sometimes that works.... But if that's not what's happening to him, I wonder if those could be solved by switching to a different internet interface (eg, Chrome), updating the interface version being used, tweaking a setting or two on one's computer, or checking with the ISP to see if there are any service-specific problems that need to be resolved. All those free (and thus worth what they cost) ideas aside, Darrin can't fix user-specific problems, though it's quite likely that this Forum might be less forgiving of issues at the local pc level.
The universal issues that we've all been encountering will go away once the database (or whatever) problem is resolved. Darrin's been mighty good at making that sort of thing happen, and I'm sure that will be the case this time around. That said, it's a poor morning or evening when the Farm Equipment page doesn't work!
When it comes to subscription fees, I totally agree with John(CO)'s post.....

I would also pay to get the old forum back. Not because of problems on this forum (I don't experience that many problems) but because I liked the old one much better. If it were not for a few radicals we would probably still have the old one.
