Hey all  i am needing to clean out the tank on my 1938 model B  and I need some advice on cleaning it out I have some washer in it now  just staring to clean it but what else do I need i am going to use re coat to line it  with  what else thanks Tim

What is dirty inside of it?  Is it rusty?  I have a WD tank that right now I am using electrolysis to clean the inside of the tank as it was really rusty.  I have had it running on my battery charger for two weeks now and it is still pulling rusty crud out of it, and I clean the annode in the morning and at night.  If you have never done this, I think it would be a good place to start and it doesn't affect the paint on the outside.  I am unsure if I am going to line it after I am done.

The way I feel about putting in liners like Red Coat and others is. If it is clean inside and don't seep gas why use it. If it has pinholes a liner is a good solution. I'm always afraid that the liner will fail if the inside of the tank doesn't get clean enough before you pour it in.

There are numerous different tank cleaning kits out there which give you everything needed to do a tank cleaning or service. Some even offer a coating as the last step of the process. Some of the feller's here mentioned Motorcycle cleaning tank kits work great. To avoid all the cleaning agents and acetones,  and what have you, I just bring the tank to my radiator man and he boils them out and coats the inside for me, and calls me when its done. They look great when they come back, and that gives me time to concentrate on other area's of the tractor to work on in the meantime. Time is something I don't have a lot of at present, so it works for me. Check with your local radiator shop. He may do it pretty reasonable for you. My guy charges me around $75.-$100 bucks depending on the size of the tank... HTH

  This was a way I tumbled the handsfull of nuts and bolts I put in the tank to loosen the rust.Cleaned the inside quite well,to be able to re-coat it. HTH
