Sold my original '55 CA last week, got sad, found a real nice '59 D-14 and bought it. Only have to haul it 30 miles so I called UHaul to rent a car hauling trailer to pull behind my '97 F-150.They REFUSED to rent me the trailer! Said it was a safety issue!! The tractor, not the F-150.I'm still fuming MAD as a hatter over this.Called up 3 levels in the company, got the same response.Yeesh. Now I have to cancel all my 'loading buddies',regroup, hire a 'tilt and load' hauler at 4 times the UHaul trailer rate.
I'm in southern Ontario,so my question is , has anyone else had this problem????
Thanks for letting me vent......
Jay

Well you gave them too much information. Go rent one and if they ask, tell them you are hauling a 1927 model T car or just a riding lawn mower. More than one way to skin a cat.

I just tell them I am hauling an Escort or a Corolla.
No problem.

I dont understand why this would be a saftey issue. All of us on here haul tractors all the time, just as safe as hauling a car.

Uhaul will not rent you a trailer to haul with a Ford Explorer for any reason.
It is just their rules. Not knowing hasn't hurt them as far as I know, because their butt is covered if they follow their rules.

I knew a guy that used a Uhaul to move firewood. They won't rent it to ya if they know you are going to haul firewood, just don't give them that much information.

Jay I ran it to it a few yrs back .I too gave them too much information .It was a matter of company policy I really don t know what you would haul on the trailors because I wanted to haul a b home and the said it would be to heavy ,I took pictures to them to show what the size was but it didn t matter .I ended up hireing a club member which I think it cost me a little more by the time I bought the gas and his food but we had a good time getting it

I stopped at a large rental lot that rented construction equipment and U-Haul trailers, to see about renting a trailer for moving a tractor. They told me just don't tell U-Haul what your hauling. When it came time that I needed a trailer I stopped at a lot that was closer. They wanted to know what make, model, and year car I was hauling. I tole them I'd have to go and check what year it was and left. And went back to the first lot.
Which is worse, driving/towing a U-Haul trailer over their 45 mph or driving below the minimum on a express way? Dusty

some of my relatives used to rent an enclosed U haul every year to pull a load of cow manure home to suburbia. They cleaned it good before they returned it...
