B-C underhood muffler

The single front wheel C that im working on had what was left of a original underhood muffler. I priced one of these for AGCO and didn't figure that it was worth the $300.00 price tag. I have a Stanley underhood muffler on the IB and  i don't like how it sounds. So i decided to build my own. It doeesn't look quite like factory ones but who's going to see it. It's under the hood. I used a nelson as a pattren and it has the correct number and size holes in the pipe. The stanley has less holes that are about twice the size. I did put this on the IB and it is quieter than the stanley. The one in the picture needs the welds ground and some paint. I starting wondering if this is something that i should try to sell. Would anybody be interested in one of these?  Matt    

I would be interested in one that FITS myself. The Stanley that I have wasn't even close to fitting correctly on my IB. The lower pipe angle was wrong, and the body of the muffler seemed to tall, hitting the underside of the hood. If you do decide to make them, design them with a body that is a 1/4-1/2" lower for a little more hood clearance on different applications. I can remember reading some posts here about these mufflers being just about on the hood with the hood in place and possibly blistering that expensive paint on the topside off. I had the same problem and decided not to use the muffler. I have a straight pipe on it right now and not liking the noise. I was gonna cut a 1/2" out of the middle of mine and weld it back together, but never got around to it. Let us know what you're thinking price wise. Might be a good venture....

I did some more measureing with this muffler on the Ib and with the hood installed my muffler has about 5/8 of an inch clearence between the curve of the hood and the highest point of the muffler. The stanley has about 3/8 of an inch. As for cleacence between the hood side i can stick my hand between the hood and muffler. As for the proper angle mine is correct.It measures the same as what i have left of a Original Nelson muffler. If your interested in them let me know and i will figure out a price. Here are some pics of it next to the stanley muffler and some of me trying to show hood clearence. The hood on the IB was cut out for a normal muffler but i did put a small hole hood on it and you still have about 5/8 clearence. Tell me what you think Matt
