Do ya like the title??? :>) Some one posted some pictures of this M-220 taken at the GOTO in NC I think. When I seen them I started looking for rear tires and finally found a RC jeep in a Goodwill store that matched. I scratchbuilt the frontend, rear rims, and the hoist frame on the rear and made some changes to the casting to match the real tractor. I spent 4 years in the AF but was out before this tractor was built. Not sure why it would have been painted OD instead of AF blue. Maybe Ron Hill of Eagleville, TN, who owns the real tractor can tell us. It was a fun project and I am glad to have it in my collection. Armand

Very nice as usual Armand! When I first saw the picture of this tractor, I liked the front axle tie down brackets. I've since made several sets for my D-21, 210, 220.
(factory design). They work the best of anything that I've seen anywhere.

I worked for a small Ford Tractor dealer in Boulder when I was in High School. The owner, Francis Brandt, bid and won a contract to supply 3 or 4 Ford 3000 tractors to the Air Force at a base in Turkey. I believe they were for mowing at the base. We had to sand them down and repaint them OD. A few years later I was stationed near Athens, Greece. Never got to Turkey so I couldn't see the tractors I'd worked on.

Wow. I am always impressed with your models. Very nice.
I notice the real machine has a pto shaft. It is no big deal, but it seems odd the tractors produced for military would need a pto. I would have thought AC would leave those off to pinch pennies. Of course, I am sure the purchasing people were not looking for the cheapest bid, only the very best product. No three point hitch, I see. That isn't unusual though.
