Are the 301 diesel heads with the injector cups good to use for pulling? Was going to get some head work done to one but heard the cups don't like to hold.

Thanks, Carl

The problem with them is they are more prone to cracking between the valves and the hole the injector sleeve comes through, the early style heads have more material in stock form, with the right work you can get the mark 2 heads to hold together, but for farmstock pulling like you're doing, just stick with an early head. Theres no real flow advantage to either head, they both stink!

Dry block it then u can do what ever needed or convert cooling system with oil cooling block and external oil cooler instead of radiator with electric fan . But yes the head sucks . Jackets are shallow walls . Eliminate the cup worries leaking . 301 head will always be a challenge. I can't afford an Indy head this year.
Good luck

Its only a farm stock tractor, sure ain't going to hard block it, would like to use it a lil too. The heads are a challenge though, that's for sure!
