I always liked messing with the 180,s , 190,s +200,s - i luv to see how much you can get out of the 301 diesel and parts are everywhere if you break anything ; D21,s are very good options too but certain parts are a little harder to come by; you can get an old XT series three pretty cheap turn up the pump , paint it up a little and have some fun

Or else you could buy mine I'm ready to start on a new one and it is for sale and extremely competetive.I have stacked up lots of things for the wife to dust off LOL. I'm looking at going to a light open maybe a 180 with twins on it.

I personally like the d21's as well, but I pull a 190xt. Mainly for the reasons mentioned above. But dont forget about the 210 and 220. I have always wanted to make a puller out of one of those also.

Here's your cheapest option. Know of someone doing this. IH 756/856 rear, dt 466 truck motor, D-21 sheet metal. You'll look good and still be competitive. Love my Allis's, just no feasible way to make them compete in "farm stock" vs 540+ cubes. Not to mention parts availability.

How about 7000 series with 426 stroked, power director so you can shift on the fly you can pick one up with a bad motor fairly cheap

They compete around here. If the IH are going from 466 to 540+, why not do the same to the 426?

Parts availability, price, and reliability. Not to mention runnin against 800 inch deeres, as has been said on here before, no replacement for displacement. just my 2 cents.
